Calahonda is situated between Málaga and Marbella in the heart of Mijas Costa. It has a large international community and is a part of the Mijas municipality.
The highest point of Calahonda, La Ermita, has a view over the entire Costa del Sol, Gibraltar and Africa. Here and there you can spot the signs of Moorish heritage with the ruins of old watchtowers that lie along the coast.
The white sand beaches and their small chiringuitos (beach bars) are the major point of attraction for a family vacation. You can take a ride on the tourist train along the coast. Or, if you prefer more sportive vacation, you can walk along the beach all the way to Marbella.
For sports enthusiasts there is also the La Siesta Golf Club and the Club del Sol sports complex with its 450m2 air-conditioned gym, 12 tennis courts, 4 padel and 4 squash courts.
