Torremolinos

Torremolinos Travel Guide

What was once a small picturesque fishing village is now a vibrant bustling vacation destination – Torremolinos. The short distance to the capital of the province – Málaga, beautiful wide beaches and fantastic climate guarantees that tourists find their way to Torremolinos all year round. Another reason why Torremolinos became so famous is because of the many celebrities who visited the town in the 50s and 60s. Today Torremolinos has grown into a town with a great infrastructure, family-friendly amenities and a large choice of commercial and investment opportunities.

Torremolinos beach owes its popularity to its golden sand, good facilities and lively promenade. The 6km beach is dotted with thousands of deck chairs and umbrellas. Here you will experience the best beach days with amazing view overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

Apart from the family-friendly town itself, Torremolinos also offers several attractions for kids situated just outside of the town. Aqualand, for example. It is a water park with allegedly the largest water slide in Europe. For the nature lovers there is a special destination – Cocodrilos Park where you can spot these reptiles real life but from the safe distance.

The town owes its name to the combination of ‘torre’, which means ‘tower’, and ‘molinos’ – the Spanish for ‘mill’. The region used to be filled with windmills in the past, but today there is only one left that serves as a restaurant and a tourists attraction.

La Carihuela is a popular neighborhood where you can experience the typical Andalusian atmosphere. It is built around the old fishing village and succeeded in preserving its traditional flavor. You can still find old fishermen’s houses, fantastic local tapas bars, fresh sea food, beautiful beach and narrow streets where you can wander endlessly. The fish restaurants you find here are well known for their high quality ingredients and excellent menus.
