Puerto Banús

Puerto Banús Travel guide

This harbor built in 1970 by Jose Banús has become one of the most exclusive harbors in Europe. Ultimately it has become way much more than what its founder could have ever dreamed of. Puerto Banús is a millionaire’s playground, the chic exposition of huge yachts and expensive cars. A paradise for those who loves big yachts, fast cars and designer clothes.

Situated on the western edge of Marbella, Puerto Banús today is visited by 5 million tourists annually. Luxury retail brands such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Dior and Dolce & Gabbana are represented at the Boulevard de la Fama – the shopping mekka of Marbella. You can find everything you could possibly want in a huge shopping mall conveniently situated in the same area under the shadow of the famous La Concha mountain peak.

Every Saturday morning a large open-air market takes place here. Historical buildings have also been preserved on the territory of the harbor. The most interesting one is the old tower.

On the both sides of Puerto Banús there are long white sand beaches and of course beach bars, such as the exclusive Ocean Club. An extremely popular promenade along the coast also offers the chance to take part in the “see and be seen” game.

Puerto Banús has become a favorite spot for those looking for an exciting night out experience. Opulent, spectacular, extravagant and expensive are some of the synonyms that apply to the glamorous parties and celebrations on the Costa del Sol.

In the backyard of the harbor, to the north of Puerto Banús there is Nueva Andalucía – a popular residential area with an excellent selection of villas and townhouses, mostly offering views of the golf courses. However, many properties also offer unobstructed mountain and/or sea views.

Numerous sports facilities are also playing its role in the attractiveness of Nueva Andalucía. Here, at the Golf Valley, as the locals call it, there are 5 top golf courses, among them La Quinta and Las Brisas are presumed to be the best on the Costa del Sol. For tennis lovers there is a famous Manolo Santana Tennis Academy.
