Marbella is all about relaxing and inspiring. Its unique location just between the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea creates a special soft micro-climate. La Concha mountain keeps the rain clouds from drifting southward from the north of the country so Marbella has very little rain and lots of sunny days throughout the year.
The old town of Marbella is an absolute must-see! This car-free area has a large number of authentic narrow streets and small plains where you can check out some of the local craft shops. There are plenty of nice restaurants and lovely terraces where you can try fantastic Spanish or international cuisine.
Marbella is famous for its long and wide coastline with many white sandy beaches. Spend a day at the beach in one of the numerous beach bars – chirinquitos. It is one of the most enjoyable things you can do in Marbella. There are lots of water sports activities available at the beaches of Marbella.
Right next to the sea you will find a long promenade that runs for more than 15 kilometers along the beach, with different cafes, restaurants and chirinquitos. You can also explore the promenade by bike.
Avenida del Mar: This beautiful walkway leads from Alameda Park to Playa de la Venus next to the harbor of Marbella. It is a wide car-free street with palm trees, nice green hedges and several large works of art. The bronze sculptures you see in the middle were designed by 20th-century surrealist Salvador Dalí. Take a minute to admire the genius of his mastermind.
The Plaza del Mar in Marbella is a meeting place for chess enthusiasts. Site of several tournaments and festivals where chess players of different ages and levels can compete with each other almost any day.
Parque de la Represa: Apart from the artificial lake populated by lively ducks and turtles, this park is a home of the Bonsai Museum, the viewpoint next to the lake with geyser, a cafeteria and a skate park. Approximately 4645m2 of fun and entertainment for all ages. For these reasons it has been awarded twice as “The Best City Park on the Costa del Sol”.
Puente Romano: The Puente Romano Hotel was built in 1974 following the huge success of its neighbour – The Marbella Club Hotel. It is conveniently located in the heart of the Golden Mile and has been recognized as one of the best 5-star GL hotels on the Costa del Sol. The hotel features a tropical garden that has won a special award. The garden contains more than 400 species of plants and trees and several water fountains.
Other facilities include a wellness center and spa, several restaurants and a beach club. The Puente Romano beach club is extremely popular during the summer time with its first-class restaurant, bar with live music every night.
The Puente Romano Hotel also accommodates the restaurant of the Michelin-starred chef Dani García: Bibo. Dani García’s restaurant is one of the best places to dine and wine in Marbella, if not the entire Costa del Sol. The menu features exquisite dishes based on Dani Garcia’s innovative approach. Bibo has a more informal atmosphere and serves delicious bistro-style dishes.
La Concha mountain: When you are in Marbella it’s impossible to miss this spiky treeless peak that is partly responsible for Marbella’s soft local climate and without any doubts is the main symbol of the whole area. To get to the top of this famous and beautiful peak be ready for a brisk walk of 4h. But once at the top, you can see far beyond Marbella to the Atlas Mountains in Morocco and the Straight of Gibraltar. The view worth climbing.
